Job Description

Pipe Welder for industrial project in Baton Rouge. Perform pipe welding on industrial construction and maintenance projects. Weld carbon steel pipe using SMAW and FCAW processes to code requirements. Produce quality welds that pass visual and radiographic examination. Read welding procedure specifications and follow all parameters. Prepare weld joints with proper fit-up, alignment, and cleanliness. Control heat input and interpass temperatures per procedure. Maintain weld identification and traceability documentation. Follow hot work permit requirements and fire watch procedures. Work in various positions including elevated and confined spaces. Keep weld repair rates below acceptable thresholds. Must pass site weld test prior to starting production work. Schedule is 6 days per week with 10 hour shifts. Welder rates with full per diem provided.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years pipe welding experience in industrial construction. Must pass 6G pipe weld test using SMAW or FCAW processes. Ability to produce welds that pass visual and radiographic examination. Knowledge of welding procedure specifications and parameters. Experience with carbon steel pipe in various diameters and wall thicknesses. Must maintain acceptable repair rate on production welding. Hot work permit and fire watch procedure knowledge required. Must pass drug screen and background check. OSHA 10 certification required. Own welding tools and reliable transportation required.
