Job Description

Zachry is seeking an Industrial Insulator for industrial construction work in Brownsville, TX. Responsibilities - Apply, remove, and repair insulation on industrial equipment, pipes, ductwork, or other mechanical systems such as heat exchangers, hot and cold pipes, storage tanks and vessels, to help control noise and maintain temperatures. - Read and interpret blue prints, instructions, and other documentation to plan work activities. - Determine amounts and select required insulation material (sheet, tubular, or roll form) such as fiberglass, foam rubber, Styrofoam, cork, or urethane. - Move materials and equipment to work locations and set up work site. - Cover, seal, or finish insulated surfaces or access holes with plastic covers, canvas strips, sealants, tape, cement or asphalt mastic. - Fit insulation around obstructions and shape insulating materials and protective coverings as required. - Install sheet metal around insulated pipes with screws to protect insulation from weather conditions or physical damage. - Measure and cut insulation using tape measures, handsaws, knives, and scissors. - Prepare surfaces for insulation application by brushing or spreading adhesives, cement, or asphalt, or by attaching metal pins. - Secure insulation with preformed plastic covers, canvas strips, sealant, or tape using staple gun, trowel, paintbrush, or caulking gun. - Follow hazardous waste handling guidelines. May remove or seal off old asbestos insulation following safety procedures. - Complete records, maintain tools and equipment, and perform clean-up and housekeeping. - Observe and comply with all safety and project rules, including wearing required PPE. - Perform other duties as required.
